Photo love

Need some eye candy? Photo tips? Good books? Of course you do. Who doesn't?

Favorite photographers
Samantha Kelly Photography In SLC, and one of my absolute favorites. The quality of light in her photos is gorgeous. When we’re ready, she’s the one I’m hiring for our family session.
Brooke Schultz Photography Love her photography. Utah-based.
Ciara Richardson Utah-based and gorgeous locations!
Lemonade and Lenses This site features a different photographer every post, so if you need some inspiration, this is a good place to start. You can also subscribe to their magazine or see older issues for free if you go back through their blog posts.
let the kids Similar to the above idea, but only one post a week (on Tuesdays) and each features a handful of photographers. A fun place to start you Tuesday mornings :)
Posy Quarterman Photography (Warning: prepare to be flashed. Not really. But there's a pic of a nursing mom on the homepage slideshow that's kind of startling if you're not ready for it. Just sayin'.)
Stormy Solis Hawaii-based, super vibrant photos.

Instructive photography sites
Photography Concentrate Explore their site! They share a ton of information and there are lots of fun freebies too. I use a couple of their Lightroom presets pretty regularly.
Improving Photography Another site with tons of information. This man loves to talk photography. And he and another guy run a podcast. Good site.

Books (that I've perused and some I can't wait to get to)
Basics:
The Digital Photography Book (Scott Kelby; you should look him up on youtube too. Good tutorials.)

Next:
Mamarazzi (love this book!)

Another (which I'm almost embarrassed to mention) is The Essential Guide to Portraits Magbook. It's a flimsy thing, but full of good starter information about portraiture. I liked it anyway :)

Going further:
Envisioning Family (not my favorite, but some decent advice)

Now get out there and do it!
